weding jewelry rentals If you could would you want to to wear real diamonds on your wedding day? Of course you would- really, who wouldn't?

I personally wasn't sure if wearing real jewelry was in reach for many brides- because, to be honest, a few nice pieces could run more that the cost of the average wedding. But all that is changed now with
Adorn Brides. They have taken a concept that celebrities have taken advantage of for many years- jewelry rentals. It is is such a great concept that we had to have an interview with Adorn Brides and Laura Carrington was kind enough to take time out her busy designing schedule for Adorn Brides and answer some questions for our Bridal Scoop brides.

{Bridal Scoop} Tell us about yourself and Adorn Brides.

{Laura}My name is Laura Carrington and I’m a Co-Founder and the Chief Stylist for Adorn Brides. My job essentially translates to decking out brides in fabulous diamond jewelry (I may have the best job ever!) We started the company based on the idea that every bride, regardless of her budget, should have access to the very best bridal jewelry available. She shouldn’t feel like she has to settle for wearing costume jewelry on her wedding day…you would never have fake flowers, so why settle for fake jewelry?

Now, with Adorn, brides can “borrow” exquisite diamond jewelry for a fraction of what it would cost to purchase it. A good example is the Spencer Necklace which retails for about $10,000 but is available to rent for less than $300. The best part is that we ship the jewelry directly to you and give you everything you need to send it back—sort of like NetFlix!

{Bridal Scoop} What trends in wedding jewelry do you expect to see for 2010?

{Laura} Jewelry trends in the wedding industry tend to follow some of the same trends we see in everyday fashion, but they tend to take a little more of a “classic” look. We recently added a new line of exclusive jewelry that I designed, and it definitely takes a number of cues from what I’ve been seeing on the runway. Here are a couple trends to consider as you begin to plan out your wedding day accessories:

Color is your friend. We’ve seen splashes of color showing up in shoes and sashes and hair pieces, but don’t be afraid to incorporate color into your jewelry. We have a sapphire and diamond necklace that is perfect for a bride who wants to check both “borrowed” and “blue” off her list in one swoop.

Bare necks are banished. Anyone who saw this year’s Oscars knows that for the first time the jewelry got as much press as the dresses. From Amy Adam’s statement necklace to Penlope Cruz’s classic (but gigantic!) diamond Riviera necklace, the buzz was all about jewelry. The same is true for your personal red carpet day as well. Don’t be afraid to do something dramatic. You can never go wrong with diamonds.

Even your wrists need adorning. We all love the cuff bracelets we’ve been seeing everywhere from the office to the nightclub. Now , thicker cuff style bracelets are also gracing the arms of fashionable brides. Look for styles that are substantial in size and sparkle, but don’t appear heavy or clunky.

{Bridal Scoop} Many of our Bridal Scoop brides are working within a strict budget- can they afford Adorn Brides?

{Laura} Of course! We started Adorn Brides with budget conscious brides specifically in mind. Our diamond pieces rent for as little as $100 and go up from there. Most of the time, that’s less than you would be spending on nice costume jewelry anyway!

{Bridal Scoop} How early should a bride reserve her wedding jewelry prior to her wedding?

{Laura} I definitely recommend allowing at least 2-3 months before the wedding date. Really, the earlier the better. The farther in advance you can make a decision, the more likely you are to have a broad selection from which to choose, ensuring the pieces that pull your heart strings are available for your date. Of course, should you change your mind and decide to switch which pieces you want, we are happy to make changes to your order for no fee. Plus, we offer a 25% discount for brides who place a reservation 6 months or more in advance.

{Bridal Scoop} Is it OK to wear colored stones in your wedding jewelry?

{Laura} Absolutely! Think about incorporating your birthstone, or the birthstone of someone special in your life. Of course, my favorite touch of all is colored diamonds. I LOVE yellow diamonds. They are so rare and unique that they become more than a piece of jewelry—they are a topic of conversation! And, at Adorn, we ensure that all of our colored diamonds are natural and not “color-enhanced” …that’s just cheating.

{Bridal Scoop} Are there any discounts for ordering multiple pieces for one event?

{Laura} Yes, we have compiled a number of Bridal Sets for brides to choose from. They are usually 10% cheaper than ordering the pieces separately.

{Bridal Scoop} Anything else you want us to know about Adorn Brides?

{Laura} Though bridal jewelry can sometimes feel like a last-minute detail, the accessories you select to compliment your gown are a very important decision and should be considered well in advance of your wedding. From your engagement to your wedding day, it should all begin and end with diamonds. Remember, your jewelry will be the very last thing you put on before you walk down the aisle to complete your transformation from fiancĂ© to wife. It’s an incredibly memorable, symbolic moment that should be treated as such.
